AVG protects your PC or Mac from malicious viruses or scam links.

AVG is first and foremost a free antivirus program for your PC: and by installing it on your computer you’ll play safe, and you will rely on one of the best antivirus instrument around. Unfortunately, they’re trying too hard to upsell their other premium services, starting from the actual installation of AVG Anti-virus. If you can get past this annoyance, AVG performs incredibly well for a product offered gratis by its developers, scoring very well in almost every test we could find.

It offers you some extra, such as an AVG PC TuneUp free day of usage: it’s a premium utility that checks Registry errors, your disk fragmentation state, and everything’s wrong on your PC. On the other hand, AVG PC TuneUp works only for one day, as we said: then you have to buy it from AVG.
AVG Anti-virus can also check your incoming links, from social networks post to your email, and warn you if you’re about to visit a wrong website.

Conclusion

AVG can be a resource hog, and the real drag is the very fist disk scan, that can slow everything down, even if they’ve deployed a “game mode” that should stop scanning your hard disk if you’re playing some online game. Of course, if your hardware is brand new you should notice no sluggishness whatsoever.
