ThreatTrack VIPRE Antivirus Review

ThreatTrack VIPRE Antivirus

Sadly, VIPRE Antivirus cannot scan your hard disk faster as the average antivirus software.

Sadly, VIPRE Antivirus cannot scan your hard disk faster as the average antivirus software.

VIPRE develops antivirus software and other security programs since the late 2000s, so in a sense is a newcomer: it’s not strange that its features are not comparable to most of its competitor. It can detect malware, adware, spyware and other critical files such as a rootkit or trojan viruses, but not as well as another antivirus we tested. Unfortunately, it lags behind the industry in speed during a scan or monitoring your activity on the web.

On the other hand, it includes a list of helpful features, such as a technology called by VIPRE “Edge Protection”, which supposedly protects you from zero-day exploits. It also controls your social graph to find and prevent any hazardous link to be clicked through, avoiding that you lose any private data or install something unwanted. It also scans external drives, like many of its more established competitors.

Conclusion

Although it has no Mac counterpart, it is very easy to use. You can find a better solution, though, using on of the many free antiviruses around.
