HitmanPro Review

HitmanPro

HitmanPro is one of the leaders in the “second opinion malware scanner” landscape. Working flawlessly with your primary antivirus, HitmanPro is a tool that improves security in the easiest way. Being a scan-only tool, it lacks a real-time protection but helps you identify menaces in a matter of minutes. This malware scanner can detect and clean up advanced kind of malware like ransomware and rootkit. Its perk is the ability to test suspicious files against multiple anti-virus engines in the cloud: Prevx, Dr.Web, G Data, IKARUS, Emsisoft, Kaspersky and Bitdefender included. Once a suspicious file is detected, HitmanPro sends it to the cloud where the five different engines scan it.

Any identified infection will be immediately quarantined. Monitoring the active files behavior and data in locations where malware usually resides, HitmanPro assures high detection levels and false positives to a minimum. HitmanPro moreover doesn’t slow down your computer and does not have to be installed: you can move it to a USB flash drive and use on every Windows PC. It’s possible to schedule automatic scans during Windows startup, daily or on specific days.

If you have a very slow internet connection, you may need to disable the automatic uploading of suspicious files on the cloud. HitmanPro is shareware and offers a 30-days trial. There’s no limit in scanning, but if you need to remove a quarantine malware infection you have to buy a $24.95 1 year on 1 PC license.

Conclusion

HitmanPro is a great second opinion malware scanner, expressly recommended to get rid of ransomware.

Sophos is a well respected leader in the field of corporate cyber security, bu when it comes to AV software for home users they leave something to be desired. I bought Hitman Pro last year, it seems to work. I got a pop up for renewal and decided to renew. After getting the product key attempting to add it, I get a message saying that I could not use becuase it license was still good (seems kind of dumb to notify users and then not let them use the key). So I waited a couple of weeks, the key worked but then instead of adding 365 days to my existing license they started the renewal from the date I used the renewal key. Forget contacting any kind of support, Sophos loves helping corporate customers, we use Sophos at my job, but home retail users are opn their own.

Windows 10 Defender, Malwarebytes Premium, and Hitman Pro do an excellent job for me. Anytime something has come no matter what so far, it is removed and done away with. I have licensed versions of Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro for years. Windows 10 defender gets a black eye from just about everyone but it does a good job for me. Malwarebytes support has always been great for me. My licenses with them are lifetime. Now are there better products sure Bitdefender, Avast, and Kaspersky. Some others certainly. It is a fine line and a balance that security software must perform in. Other products just seem heavy and bloated to me, are hard to get rid of and seem to detect alot of false positives, more than the three I use. When it comes right down to it you are the one who know what works best for your pc setup.

I’ve used Malwarebytes for several years but Hitman Pro is superior, with far less false positives than Malwarebytes.

On June 30,3018 (Albert) contacted me from Hitmanpro. Stating that Hitmanpro had lost their licensing and would no longer service my computers. Albert asked for my online banking information. Informing that a full refund would be put in my bank account. I wasn’t enrolled in online banking. Albert strongly encouraged me to enroll so he could refund my money. After 3 days of trying to enroll, Albert asked me if I had a credit card. I said yes. He asked if I had an available credit on it and how much was available. I told him to keep my 300.00 and never call me again. He called 2 more times. I was suspicious from the start that this wasn’t on the up and up. PLEASE BEWARRE OF THIS COMPANY.
