Foxit reader

If you need a lightweight PDF Reader, you may want to try Foxit Reader. Faster than many big competitors like Adobe Reader, it consumes little RAM and hard drive space, and it’s intuitive. Foxit Reader offers an eye-candy interface rich in functions indeed. It allows to add text boxes and notes, insert rules, work with a multi-tabbed layout, embed images, audio, and video, create links, and attach new files.

Foxit Reader helps you create a PDF from scanned documents. If you need to view your document as a text-only file, you can do it easily. A full-screen mode will let you focus on your data. PDF rotate, zoom and social sharing features are available at a glance.

Foxit Reader also offers plenty advanced features: you can take a look at the file’s comments, try the text-to-speech function and see a preview of each layer and attachment available. You can also verify or validate the signatures, add security settings, draw freehand designs and add or remove bookmarks.

It’s possible to highlight or strike out text, adding shapes, lines, and arrows. A spell-checker will suggest you alternatives as you type. The Foxit Reader’s Safe Mode features will offer protection from malicious PDF files. A document collaboration feature is available and allows to save PDF files online you can work on with colleagues, but you have to pay to use it after a 3-month trial. Google Drive integration is available.

Foxit website offers a thorough knowledgebase. Foxit Reader works on every Windows and iOS version, and it’s free.

Conclusion

Foxit Reader is free, lightweight and feature-rich: it’s a recommended alternative to Adobe Reader.
