SPAMfighter

SPAMfighter

SPAMfighter provides one of the best spam filtering software solutions for your email client. This software offers not only a reliable anti-spam but also an anti-phishing protection system able to automatically remove unsolicited emails overflowing your inbox. SPAMfighter can scan and protect each received email in real-time, finding spam and protecting you against identity theft and phishing messages.

SPAMfighter boasts sophisticated technology to separate regular emails from the spam: the software implements a community-based filtering spam system. Users can report spam directly from the integrated toolbar helping update the online database. Once quite some users have reported the same domain or email sender, all future messages will be blocked. SPAMfighter is able to recognise any kind of spam, even if sent as a picture. What about errors? No spam filter is 100% perfect, but SPAMfighter is the most reliable.

Your address book will be immediately imported into a whitelist: all messages from your contacts are safe. If you worry about losing vital messages, you can also set rules and change the SPAMfighter’s sensitivity to match your needs: you can choose from Default, Very Soft, Soft, Hard and Very Hard sensitivity level. Black and white lists can be customized too.

SPAMfighter supports Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, Apple Mail, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird. Yahoo and Gmail are supported via Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. There’s not yet compatibility for web-based MSN, Hotmail, and other non-POP3 webmail services. The spam filter is available in English, French, Italian, Greek, German, Spanish, Norwegian, Suomi, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Bulgarian, Russian, Thai, Turkish, and Danish.

SPAMfighter is available in Standard and Pro version. SPAMfigher Standard is free, but it’s for personal use only, does not include language filtering features and are allowed a maximum of 100 entries in a whitelist. SPAMfighter Pro offers all functionalities starting from $24.95 per year.

Conclusion

SPAMfighter is worth having tool for home and business users.

I don’t know where you (the users) get that stuff, but I think SPAMfighter is great and does an a super job. As it has been said, there is nothing 100%, but SPAMfighter does exactly what it is suppose to do. Don’t forget to “unblock” those that have made it thru and white label those you anticipate. Enjoy it!

  2. Spamfighter is dangerous. It blocks email from healthcare organizations. It blocks emails from health insurance organizations. It blocks email from .gov domains, which means that there is no in-house competence. It also means that important information about disability benefits, etc. will be blocked as well. It blocks financial institutions. The only reason people think it works well is that they try to improve their test scores by blocking tons of legitimate email. I have more than 20 years experience in the computer security industry. I offered to help them create an extensive white list of good domains, but they never respond. Yes, all spam filters false positive sometimes, but SPAMfighter does frequently and on domains that any slightly competent developer would have whitelisted.
This is too dangerous to recommend. That’s a shame. They don’t even try for quality.

    • Randy,

I’ve used Spamfighter for around 3-years and have experienced similar results. Do you have any recommendations?

      Thanks,

I had SpamFighter for a year and finally uninstalled it. It doesn’t have a Bayesian filter so it’s limited in it’s filtering. I found that in spite of adding annoying spam sites to its list, I still kept receiving them. Support is non-existent so I eighty-sixed them. I’m evaluating MailWasher pro.
