Shazam is an app that identifies a song by listening to it through the phone microphone. How cool is that?!

SHAZAM: THE APP THAT RECOGNIZES SONGS AND ARTISTS

In this article, Accurate Reviews experts explain what Shazam is, how it works and how to best use it to find your favorite songs. It will also show how to download the application on iOS and Android devices and how to use it from your computer, from the official website or from the application available for Mac.

WHAT IS SHAZAM?

As always, let’s take a step back and learn what Shazam is. It is a smartphone service available for different operating systems, which allows you to identify a piece of music, and returns title, author, album and lyrics. The application was developed by Shazam Entertainment, a company founded in 1999 in London by Chris Barton, Philip Inghelbrecht, Avery Wang and Dhiraj Mukherjee.
It relies on a database that collects a virtually infinite number of songs. Your smartphone will listen to a few seconds of music and match the audio to a song in the database. All this happens thanks to a spectrogram that represent the intensity of the frequencies at certain points in time so that they can be identified.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD IT

Shazam is a free application available for smartphones and tablets, compatible with both iOS and Android devices. In the first case, simply access the App Store, search for “Shazam” in the search bar and click on “Get” while in the second case access  Google Play or the Play Store, type “Shazam” and click on “Install”. Once the download is complete, you can open the application and register to create your profile and save your songs. Registration is not required, but it enables “My Shazam”, a feature where all your searched songs are stored for future reference.
