Cloudmark DesktopOne Review

Cloudmark Inc.

Cloudmark DesktopOne

Cloudmark DesktopOne is another great spam filter software capable of competing with SPAMfighter. Cloudmark DesktopOne provides a system for filtering the spam slightly different from competitors one: it downloads all incoming emails in your client and automatically moves to a spam folder suspicious emails. It doesn’t work on a server level, but it’s reliable and efficient.

Like SPAMfighter, Cloudmark DesktopOne is always up-to-date thanks to a community-based approach: users report spam and bulk email messages to the service online database. The system combines all data to identify and block spam email senders. If you still receive a small amount of spam, all you have to do is mark it as unwanted messages and let the software report them to the database. You think Cloudmark DesktopOne marked as spam a legit email? You can take a look at the designated spam folder, review and move messages.

All your trusted contacts are in a Smartlist: you won’t miss an email from them. This spam filter is straightforward to install, is pretty fast and doesn’t weight too much on your email client with which integrates by installing a toolbar available for Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Outlook 2011 for Mac, Apple Mail, Office for Mac, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Microsoft Mail. The filter works with all POP3 and IMAP email accounts so you can protect even your Webmail (MSN, Gmail, AOL, Yahoo and others) and HTTP-based email.

Cloudmark DesktopOne also supports multiple email accounts with a single quick installation, and it’s able successfully to block email-borne viruses, keyloggers, phishing attacks, and other malware threats. The spam filter’s protection goes on even when the email client is closed. Software’s feature are customizable: you can set the security level you need and some emails delivery options. You can also scan messages on demand.

The software is available in Free and Pro versions. Cloudmark DesktopOne Free Edition works with one email account only, lacks support for automatic spam deletion, technical support by email, trusted emails from senders in the local address book, email folder manual scan, and online account management. In other words, it automatically filters a single email folder and nothing more. It is not very useful.

Cloudmark DesktopOne Pro Edition boasts all of the aforementioned features and also provides protection against malware and malicious threats for an unlimited number of email accounts and folders. The Pro edition costs $19.95 for an annual subscription. Additional licenses are up to $9.95 each.

Conclusion

Cloudmark DesktopOne Pro is one of the best spam filters out there: it’s a reliable, accurate and efficient solution. The free edition is unfortunately quite useless.
