To manage and track your sales pipelines you need a great CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool that assists you in your business activities: find leads, accomplish a proper relationship with customers, manage your team and much more. WakeUpSales is an innovative CRM solution: it offers an Open Source tool developed in Ruby on Rails and available for Windows, Mac and Linux users.

You have to signup with your email address, and you’re allowed to download the WakeUpSales web application running on a local server (possibly virtualized on your computers). Setting it up is not easy at all, but you can follow clear instructions in the Installation Guides page. All guides are arranged by operating system.

Once you overcome the installation hurdle, you can appreciate the modern, light and colorful user interface you can become confident within in minutes. It’s easy to create individuals or company profiles in the Users section: all you have to do is add information such email, phone numbers, websites and so on.

The dashboard streamlines your and your team activities, helping you keeping track of everything. The dashboard shows an overview of ongoing projects – with percentages that summarize carried out activities – a task list, upcoming tasks and recent leads. The Leads section lets you quickly add and supervise all leads details: country, opportunity, the lead amount, email and phone contacts and assign it to a user. The more you trigger your leads tendencies, the more you know how to turn them into actual paying customers.


Adding, modifying and canceling contacts is deadly easy: as for leads, you only have to click on the “plus” option in the menu bar, choose the Contact option and add details. If you need to import a contact list no panic: click on Import Contact button and select a CSV file.

The Kanban View is Trello-like, and all your leads are sorted by stage: incoming, not qualified, won, lost and so on. It’s possible to customize and move showed stages.

Do you need to stay updated on your team members activity? Thanks to the Daily Updates section you can schedule daily or periodic news right in your inbox. Just select the lead you wish to monitor, then you can set alerts and users involved. Reports generated are CSV files.

WakeUpSales allows you also to manage your email addresses: you’ll be able to check your emails and send messages without leaving the CRM application. Email campaigns and follow ups are included in the system: you only need to set specific dates and triggers, and WakeUpSales will automate all your processes, monitoring click/open/view counts.

WakeUpSales integrates with SendGrid, Quickbooks, Freshbooks, Google Calendar, Gmail, MailChimp and much more. The included Invoice Generator makes easy to track all payments and send an invoice to contacts.

WakeUpSales is open source and free: it allows unlimited tasks, unlimited users, and unlimited contacts.

    It’s a well deserved CRM app. I use it for my small team of 5 and after a careful comparison with insightly and pipedrive I seriously feel this is a way easier and smarter solution. Only thing I’m waiting for is the Gmail plugin. And as the name goes by Wakeupsales – it has helped me yet to wake up my sales.
