School and business staff training: e-learning platforms compared

Most Italian schools – companies have been moving in this area for some time now – are using e-learning platforms for integrated digital education targeting their students and for staff e-learning training.

The supply of LMS (learning management system) platforms is very different, and each environment has its strengths as well as weaknesses.

Implementing a Moodle platform in your institution’s website is undoubtedly effective, because it facilitates the creation of courses very easily, in a dynamic and modular way, through the use of forums, chat and internal messaging, scorm objects, blogs and wikis, and many other useful elements to bring to life complete and interactive courses, with in-depth monitoring of learning.

Docebo is perhaps best suited for those who already have experience with managing an LMS, given its interface to customize and build upon, but otherwise it proves to be an excellent environment for those who want to make social learning their strong point in staff training, thanks to the ability to create and share learner-generated content and advanced management of study materials with AI technology that allows learners to locate them easily and quickly.

Adobe Captivate Prime is a great cloud solution for training in large enterprises, especially because you can have study content in multiple languages and because the platform integrates with a variety of third-party services such as Zoom, Salesforce, BlueJeans, LinkedIn Learning, and many others, as well as excellently managing external users, for channel partner training.

We could continue this examination of the LMSs on the market, but we would be faced with a comparison that would end up giving us a very similar picture anyway as we move from one environment to another. What each of these platforms in fact lacks is the ability to create content within them.

In this regard, iSpring Suite guarantees the design of study materials with an integrated console in Power Point, the most widely used presentation program in the world. Through a very intuitive toolkit, learning objects of the most varied types can be created: quizzes, video tutorials, audio and video tutorials, dialog simulations, eBooks, presentations and much more, to meet the different types of learning of our learners, excellently replacing what is usually done with numerous educational apps. Finding the potential of countless educational content creation apps brought all together in one environment and in one tool, means that the school teacher or trainer/tutor saves time and can better focus on the concepts to be conveyed to their students or trainees.

Our lesson package, designed with iSpring Suite, can then be uploaded into iSpring Learn, an LMS for online courses. Let’s look at its strengths:

  • The ability to have all the training material available in one cloud
  • The simple interface, but at the same time presenting a modern and attractive design
  • The consultation of materials from any device, thanks to the native iOS and Android Apps. In this way, learners can access classes and their courses at any time and from anywhere, through a blended teaching that will combine synchronous and asynchronous, classroom and online teaching. Otherwise, through the built-in e-learning course creation tool, these courses are usable directly from the browser
  • Integration with the powerful iSpring Suite course creation toolkit.
  • The ability to set up online meetings and training sessions through integration with Zoom
  • An advanced reporting system that can monitor the activities performed by each individual learner with graphs and analytical reports and an easy-to-use, visual control panel
  • Gamification aspects for active involvement of students through rewards, scores and rankings
  • Technical support that is always available and responsive to users’ needs.

Should the teacher plan to sell and monetize some of his or her courses there is also iSpring Market, with powerful built-in marketing tools to promote and sell courses online without the need for designer or computer programming skills, and indispensable marketplace to manage clients and track payments and earnings.

Ultimately, the choice of an LMS depends greatly on the target audience of staff to be trained and the goals and skills to be achieved, but in the wide range of e-learning platforms on offer, you will not find it difficult to find what is right for you.
